Betul villagers will continue peaceful agitation against Defence Expo while Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar is not sure what the land of Quitol should be used for, after the four-day international event is over this month end.
The Orixtt Porjecho Avaz were not satisfied with the meeting they had with the CM, who told them the decision on making Quitol a permanent venue would be decided later.
Parsekar however told goanews.com that his government had not taken any decision even to use the land for industrial purpose.
“Decision regarding the land would be taken only after DefExpo”, he said.
According to OPA president Freddy Agnelo Fernandes, the meeting with the CM did not bear any fruits as he could not give satisfactory replies to their queries.
“He could not explain us in what manner the local villagers would benefit from DefExpo”, he told the media persons after meeting him in Panaji today evening.
Perhaps the CM has told them that the villagers can put up some stalls outside the venue.
Fernandes also said Parsekar was non-committal on making the whole project report of the DefExpo public.
“Have trust in defence minister Manohar Parrikar, he has requested us, but we cannot trust anybody who does not trust us”, he said.
Parsekar however told goanews.com that the panchayat members of the villages were convinced about the project and he has tried his level best to take everybody into confidence when they met him.
