Why those who glorify Godse also not called anti-nationals, asks BJP Wagh

Goa’s deputy speaker and Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Vishnu Wagh has asked why those glorifying Mahatma Gandhi’s murderer Nathuram Godse should not be called anti-nationals, using the same criteria applied to the ones glorifying Afzal Guru.

In a full-page article written for the Sunday supplement for local Marathi daily Navprabha, he has also raised the issue of ‘some organisations’ never hosting Indian tri-colour flag at their office premises or ‘shakhas’.

While objecting to the glorification of Afzal Guru, Wagh states in his article that similar parameters should also be applied to those who glorify Godse, since he was also hanged to death for killing the Father of the Nation.

“How can they justify murderers of Mahatma Gandhi in the name of freedom of speech? Is it not a similar kind of anti-national act? And what is the stand of the government on such elements”, the BJP MLA has asked his own party government.

He also points out that actor like Sharad Ponkshe, who acts as Godse in a drama ‘Mee Nathuram Boltoy’, has been moving all over, giving speeches in defence of Nathuram Godse.

Without naming any organisation or party, the writer-turned-politician has also objected to the language of ‘some leaders’ who suggest that beef-eaters should go to Pakistan.

Taking a dig at the saffron flag which his Bharatiya Janata Party also uses, Wagh states that Shivaji Maharaj was using saffron flag since there was no tri-colour Indian national flag in those days.

“If Shivaji Maharaj was alive today, I am sure even he would have said that national flag is his flag”, states Wagh.

According to the St Andre MLA, not only in the national capital but the atmosphere is vitiated in the whole country on the issue of nationalism and anti-nationalism.

While repeatedly stating that glorification of Afzal Guru is not justified, he however observes that the convict who was hanged for the attack on the Indian Parliament is looked upon as a role model in Kashmir, no matter what we feel.

Recalling his own experiences of student movement days when even Naxalites were glorified, Wagh feels the young blood gets fascinated with such anti-establishment movements but sobers down as they grow up.

“We should see how the young blood with extremist thoughts is neutralised, so that the whole process of creating more terrorists of the future is stalled for ever”, states Wagh.

According to him, the best way is to open the windows of Constitution of India and not these attacks and counter-attacks.

RSS Had no role, it was questioned in court.

It was questioned 2 times and RSS was found innocent, even by nehru family.

And regarding the flag, flags were not allowed by Indian Govt.

jindal won the case.

google -- jindal 2001 case Indian Flags.

As usual Wagh is confused. As is his mindset he is criticizing his own party and RSS.He must have got the hint that he will not get Bjp ticket for next election. Secondly to compare Afzal Guru with Godse is madness. Afzal helped outside terrorists who wanted to destabilize India. Godse didn't do such a thing, not even helped British. If some pseudo nationalist feels killing Gandhi is an attack on nation they are indulging in false patriotism.
