FC Goa may face action from ISL as well as AIFF

The boycott of prize distribution function and getting Chennaiyin FC captain arrested may cost FC Goa dearly as the Indian Super League as well as the All India Football Federation now speak of action against ‘indiscipline’.
While ISL has released an official press note in this regard, AIFF president Praful Patel has tweeted on the whole episode.
Alleging that Chennaiyin FC captain Elano Blumer assaulted him, FC Goa co-owner Dattaraj Salgaoncar had filed FIR against him after FC Goa lost the ISL final to Chennai 3-2 on 20 December.
While Elano was arrested by the police, the FC Goa had also boycotted the prize distribution ceremony held at Fatorda stadium.
Salgaoncar as well as Srinivas Dempo, both co-owners of FC Goa team, had also blamed the ISL officials for ignoring all their complaints about the aggressive football Chennaiyin was playing as well as the biased acts of Japanese referee Yudai Yamamoto.
“It has been brought to the notice of ISL and concerns expressed by our partner Star India that FC Goa management have made adverse comments in media disputing the result of the ISL 2015 final played here in Goa on Sunday night. The League has also taken serious view of the unsporting behaviour by the Goa franchise and alleged unsporting behaviour of certain players of the team on and off the field”, stated ISL press release.
The ISL also made it clear that it “does not accept such behaviour from any member of the club management, support staff or players.”
The matter has now been referred to the ISL Disciplinary Committee. ISL has strict code of conduct with an established integrity unit and an ACSU division, stated the press note.
While FC Goa owners had told the media that they have filed a formal complaint before the ISL authorities, the ISL has claimed that it “has not received any complaints from the Goa management.”
SHAMEFUL, SAYS PATEL
AIFF president Praful Patel has also in his tweet termed the whole incident as shocking and shameful.
“AIFF has viewed the developments at ISL finals very seriously and it will not tolerate indiscipline”, he stated.
Perhaps referring to Elano’s arrest and arguments with the referee by FC Goa staff, Patel observed that “protection of international players and referees on and off the field of play and conduct of matches has to be as per FIFA guidelines.”
The AIFF is also waiting for the match commissioner’s report in this regard, stated Patel, after which the AIFF plans to initiate action against FC Goa officials.
