RSS pracharak appointed as Cong Secretary, complains a Congman
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 17 December 2015 23:59 ISTGoa’s Congressman is upset that a RSS pracharak has been appointed as the secretary of the organisation, while election is hardly one year away.
Babi Bagkar, vice president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, has strongly objected to the appointment of Adv Manohar Shirodkar, pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, as his colleague in the position of a secretary.
The GPCC has declared appointment of two secretaries – Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte, former Pedne MLA.
Shirodkar, the RSS pracharak for almost three decades in Bicholim, had lost Assembly election in 2012 on BJP ticket.
He was fielded last minute when BJP’s former MLA Rajesh Patnekar joined the Congress, but lost, while Bicholim voter elected independent candidate Naresh Sawal.
With Patnekar roped into the BJP once again, Shirodkar has now jumped on the Congress ship and may also be the candidate.
Bagkar has described it as a sign of Congress moving on the path of becoming a social club.
“Any Tom Dick and Harry comes into the party, bags the position as secretary and leaves the party whenever he or she feels”, he states.
RSS people are being recruited by our GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro from Bicholim and Mandrem, he grumbles.
Bagkar, the Congress leader from Mandrem, is perhaps upset that the party has brought in Sopte, losing his hope to contest from Mandrem, represented by BJP’s Laxmikant Parsekar.
He now plans to file a complaint in this regard to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi.
“This is a clear match-fixing with the BJP and the chief minister”, he alleges.
