Cong to stage 'self-suffering' against BJP's corruption
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 07 December 2015 21:50 ISTWith Goa’s Assembly election coming close, opposition Congress appears to be going to streets, beginning with a one-day hunger strike against corruption in the BJP government.
All India Congress Committee secretary Girish Chodankar has announced ‘self-suffering’ with hunger strike on 9 December at Azad Maidan in Panaji, from 10 am to 6 pm.
“The BJP has converted its slogan of ‘zero tolerance’ to corruption into a ‘big zero’ by weakening all the crucial anti-corruption institutions”, said Chodankar.
He is highlighting upon three issues:
1. Not appointing Lokayukta till date after the previous Lokayukta left halfway.
2. Weakening office of Information Commission while dilly dallying over appointment of information commissioners
3. Not implementing the Goa Rights of Citizens of Time Bound Delivery of Public Service Bill.
“The corruption is at its peak and everyone is busy looting the state,” alleges Chodankar.
According to him, these three institutions are keys to zero tolerance to corruption and public services, but the dumb and deaf government is not responding to it.
While GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro and some other Congressmen will join him at Azad Maidan, Chodankar has also appealed to RTI activists also to join him.
It will be tolerable suffering as there are no of eateries and "drinkeries" near about such suffering jaunts. Time and duration can be made more "suffering" if it is between 10 am to 11 am and 3pm to 4 pm.
