Other literary bodies should follow Sahitya Akademi: Mauzo

Damodar Mauzo, a veteran Indian writer in Konkani, has welcomed the Sahitya Akademi resolution and has appealed all other literary bodies to follow the suit.
He has also appealed to all the writers to shed complacency and remain vigilant in the times of come.
Following eminent writers returning their Sahitya Akademi awards in protest of mysterious silence of Sahitya Akademi, the apex body of Indian writers, yesterday condemned the killings of Prof M M Kalburgi as well as other rationalist writers – Dr Narendra Dabholkar and Com Govind Pansare.
The resolution was passed at the emergency meeting of the Executive Board of Sahitya Akademi in Delhi.
A short statement released by Mauzo in this regard states as follows:
“We would have been happier if it (resolution) had to come much earlier.
Nevertheless I am happy that Sahitya Akademi has condemned in strong words the killing of Porf Kalburgi, threat to freedom of expression and the atmosphere of fear prevailing in the country.
Taking the clue from Sahitya Akademi, other literary bodies in the country should now strive to protect the freedom of expression and other fundamental rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution of India.”
Terms like 'eminent', etc. must be used carefully. I was listening to Mauzo on youtube and there he was saying 'Konkani' is complimentary to "Portuguese" to some students at BITS Vasco.
Complimentary? does he even know the meaning of the word 'complimentary'? Konkani has only borrowed words from Portuguese, Marathi, etc. And that is about it.
Is it the job of Academy to take stands on law and order,etc situations in India? Why aren't these eminent writers not concerned about leaching of 'harijans' or their bad treatment still existing in Goan temples and other social circles. Aren't they human beings?
