'Nachom-ia Kumpasar' will now enter International Film Fests: Bardroy
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 24 March 2015 21:45 ISTBardroy Barreto, a young Goan director of Nachom-ia Kumpasar, a Konkani film that bagged three national awards today, is now planning to enter the arena of International Film Festivals.
“I am delighted with the awards, two in general category and one as the best Konkani film. This will change the perception of Konkani cinema”, said Barreto, a Canacona-based artist presently producing ad-films in Mumbai.
By screening shows of the film not in professional theatres but at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao and Vasco and Maquinez Palace in Panaji, the film has already completed over 150 screenings till date.
“We will definitely enter in the International Film Festivals, but slowly and systematically”, Barreto told goanews.com.
He has produced a musical based on the lives of two legends of Konkani music – musician Chris Perry and singer Lorna.
The film has won two awards in the general category – production design and Special Mention of Palomi Ghosh, who plays Lorna (named Donna in the film), for her startling performance, besides the Best Konkani Film Award.
The film, having 20 unforgettable Konkani songs of Chris Perry and Lorna, is not only a nostalgic trip for the Konkani audience but a real treat for any film lover due to its compactness, camera, editing, direction and acting.
“I have already trimmed the film by 12 minutes and English sub-titles are added”, Barreto informed goanews.com.
The film is 2.47 hours long, which has been now trimmed down to 2 hours 35 minutes.
“Not possible to trim it further”, he admits.
While the shows of his films are still continuing in Goa, the team is now planning to start screening in Mumbai from 28 March.
“It’s a team effort and we are all happy with the awards”, says Barreto.
The four-crore creation is produced by around 100 producers, who have contributed to the making of the film.
Barreto has worked for 10 long years to research and write the screenplay of the film.
Fantastic job
