Parrikar objects to mining cap by SC
PTI, PANAJI | 30 June 2014 21:34 ISTGoa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has taken objection to capping of iron ore production in the state in the name of 'intergenerational equity'.
"Intergeneration equity has now become a fashionable word. Why is it used only for Goa? The 20 MT capping on extraction of iron ore is for Goa and not anywhere else," Parrikar said here at the Annual General Body meeting of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), last evening.

'Intergeneration equity' is a concept which advocates humans should preserve nature and environment for both present and coming generations.
The Supreme Court in its recent verdict on illegal mining in Goa, ruled that the capping of 20 MT should be imposed on fresh extraction of iron ore.
He said that alongside talking of capping of extraction, control on consumption should also be discussed.
Taking a dig at environmentalists, Parrikar said those who oppose coal, sand and iron ore mining have no right to sit in air-conditioned rooms.
GF, Church, AAP & All Goans Should Demand, First Recover 35 Thousand Corers And Then Re-Start Mining. And If Start Then Swaraj Act Must Be Passed, So That Mining Income Can Come In The Hands Of Goans And Not Go In The Hands Of The Few Rich People. Swaraj Is A Must To Start Mining, So That Mining Income Can Come In The Hands Of Whole Village People.
