Big B lost credibility for joining Cong: Remo

Citing the case of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, renowned singer Remo Fernandes, who recently joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), today said popular perceptions about parties and politicians affect image of even the public figures.
"When Amitabh Bachchan had joined the Congress party years back, his popularity declined substantially. He had lost his credibility,"
Remo, who recently joined Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, commented on people's perception when celebrities join political outfits, while addressing a press conference here.
The internationally acclaimed musician and pop singer said the reason Big B's popularity took a hit was because popular perception about political parties.
"....The reason why his (Bachchan's) popularity dipped was because people equated anyone joining any political party for being part of thieves, rapists and criminals," he said.
Remo said Bachchan still faced the consequences despite the fact that Congress was largely free of corruption in that era and having iconic faces like Rajiv Gandhi.
Contrary to this, Remo said he is getting positive response from all over, including the social networking sites like Facebook, for joining AAP.
'I would have been however condemned if I had joined any other party like the Congress or the BJP", he said.
Remo you are undoubtedly one of our greatest heroes in modern day Goa, U have been straight forward and brazen in the past- even to extent of leaving your car right in the middle of the bay at Dabolim, causing hardships to the aam aadmi, where you forgot that you were an AAM AADMI. Your efforts through your talent will probably never be paralleled by some other in Goa, but trying to covertly bring yourself to the level of senior Bachan? you have probably tried to bite more than you can chew. I am glad you and Dr. Oscar have finally decided to get into the political arena, unfortunately, the impulsive artist in you has taken prominence. This AAP thing is fantastic, i like it too, but it is just an ideology in "OUR India of today". It would have been much better to join the movement of Anna Hazare or you start a similar movement in Goa, (just like Dr.) keep the politicos on their toes, educate our INDIANS and then dive into this pool, even if it had to be without your clothes.
I, however, sincerely wish you and the AAP all the best, and succeed to give us some ray of hope for the future of our kids.
