Bungee jumpers can have a ball in Anjuna
13 November 1997 23:15 IST Tourists who love Bungee jumping as well as sun bathing on Indian beaches can now book their tickets to Goa.
The tourist state on western coast will now soon have an exclusive Bungee jumping site, adjacent to the Anjuna beach in north Goa.
The state government has not only signed an agreement with a Mumbai-based private firm, but has even spared 3000 sq mts of its land for the purpose, on a lease of 12 years, to be renewed later after every six years.
It's perhaps the first concrete step the Goa government has taken to promote adventure tourism, hand-in-hand with beach tourism.
"It will be our special attraction", says chief minister Pratapsing Rane. The work is expected to begin immediately as the cabinet has approved it this week.
Gravity adventures Pvt ltd will be charged the licence fee, as per the agreement, of Rs 1.5 lakh or five per cent of the gross annual earnings, whichever is higher.
To facilitate the tourists visiting the state specially for Bungee jumping, the project will also contain a mini golf course, restaurant and other amusements.
