Youth blast Parrikar & BBSM on MoI cheating

The “Mr Digambar Kamat Get Well Soon” group of youth, emerged through the Facebook, has turned its guns on chief minister Manohar Parrikar now, charging him of cheating the people on the issue of Medium of Instruction.
In the same breath, the youngsters have also charged their senior leaders belonging to Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch of working as “just a political front for the BJP-MGP” for Assembly elections.
The group that led the MoI issue independently through street plays and other mediums has also dared Parrikar to come out for an open debate and defend his policy on MoI.
In a press conference held today evening, the “Get Well Soon Mr Digambar Kamat” group also alleged that the whole issue is a scam of Rs 25 crore.
“It is an authorized illegal mine functioning in the government while all the mines are banned”, said Yugank Naik, one of the leaders of “Mr Digambar Kamat Get Well Soon”.
Through the RTI applications, the group has exposed Parrikar’s education department on how 130 schools have been granted permission to shift their medium from Konkani to English, without any legality or formality being followed.
“Is the education department run on rules and procedures or on the whims and fancies of the Chief Minister? Is Goa under democracy, anarchy or authoritarian rule”, asks the group “Mr Digambar Kamat Get Well Soon” to Parrikar.
“Looks like the BJP and MGP used us for elections”, said Rajdeep Naik, another leader of the group.
With a well-researched stand taken after filing RTI and getting authentic information, the group of youth has arrived at a conclusion that the government released grants to 130 schools in total defiance of the high court orders.
The amount of grants released is little over Rs 24.77 crore for the academic year 2011-12, when no official permission was given by the government to shift from Konkani to English medium.
The RTI information states that the change in medium of instruction took place as per the circular dated 18 June 2012, but grants were released from June 2011.
