AG lauds CM, demands probe & ban of Ram Sene

Ami Goenkar, the organisation formed to opposed entry of Sree Ram Sene in Goa, has lauded chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s announcement to arrest Pramod Muthalik and his young brigade if they entered Goa, describing it as a ‘first step in a right direction.’
The AG however expects the chief minister to take more concrete steps to cleanse Goa of the communal organisations and elements, which have made Goa their home.
“These communal, unconstitutional and separatist forces have made Ramnathi in Ponda taluka as their headquarters”, said Adv Prasanna Timble, the AG spokesperson.
AG Convenor Anwesha Singbal has also demanded a judicial inquiry into the conference of right wing organisations demanding Hindu Rashtra, in violation of the provisions in the Constitution of India.
In this convention, Muthalik announced that his SRS would open Goa branch and would imposed a definite type of culture in the tourist state, said Singbal.
“We feel that it is imperative to keep our Legislative Assembly free from all communal elements such as those that operate from Ponda. This will go a long way towards securing a secular, constitutional functioning of our Government”, said the AG press release.
Based on a police report, said AG co-convenor Dr Mukul Pai Raiturkar, the chief minister should also recommend to the central government a ban on the activities of Ram Sene and such other organisations.
While stating that the CM should take these steps during the ongoing Assembly session, the AG stated: “only then it can be said that the current Government is secular beyond a shadow of doubt”.
