Parrikar warns Muthalik of 'breaking hands'

In the wake of Sri Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik's reported statement that his organisation would act against pubs and bars in Goa, chief minister Manohar Parrikar today warned that anybody trying to take law in hands would be dealt with severely.

"I have read an interview in a national newspaper. There are statements like cracking down on pubs and bars in Goa. We will break hands of those who are trying to play with law and order," Parrikar told reporters this evening without naming Muthalik.

Muthalik, who is here to participate in the All India Hindu Convention, told in an interview to a national newspaper that they planned to set up a wing of Sri Ram Sene in Goa and that they would deal with pubs and parties severely.

Sri Ram Sene was in the news in 2009 after its activists had allegedly manhandled youths in a Mangalore pub.

"No one has a right to take law in hands. If they have some complaint, they can approach the authorities, they can come to me also," Parrikar said.

"No one has a right to do moral policing in Goa," he added.

The chief minister said that if anyone finds that illegal activities like prostitution was happening in the state, they could inform the police, who would crack down on it.

On being asked whether Sene would be allowed to open its wing in Goa, Parrikar said, "Our country is democratic. I will not stop anyone from opening the wing, as long as they believe in law and order."

"They have to work within the framework of law," he said.

Goa should BAN Sri Ram Sena. They should not be allowed to open their branch in Goa. Goans do not want them. They are exactly same like TALIBAN. Peace in Goa will be destroyed if they are allowed to stay. We Goans should see that Sri Ram Sena is not allowed to stay in Goa.

No one should come here to disturb the peace prevailing here. We do not want anyone adding to our problems. We have laws and people to enforce those.

And government should reward the people for contempt of high court? what does this signify other than a pure political decision? What this clearly indicates is the respect for law that this govt. has. Also, statements such as I will break hands --- this itself is taking the law into one's hands.

Dont be a blind follower of the BJP govt.

all the hindu nation organisations knowingly keep ss in their names. Rss, shiv sena ss, sanatan sonstha ss and now shriram sene ss. This is to show that they are hitlers goonda gang ss regiments. They all are one. This is what is called a prima facie case agains all these hindu groups. Same is with muslim. Simi means students islamic movement of india. Student of islam in arabic is taliban so simi is taliban india. Mutalk and parrikar both are brothers in same movement. Both are shadow boxing to fool people. In 2000 at same place hindu meeting took place. It planned gujrat riot. Now what conspiracy is planned in 2012?

Samir,

The government of the day need not try to haul up every entity that defies the High Courts orders.

If there was Contempt of court then let the High Court act and say so.

The high court can punish the schools or issue a directive to the government to punish the schools. You stay calm and let the Law/High Court play its role.

Several schools in contempt of law changed to English medium. The BJP govt instread of penalizing them rewarded them. So, why these double standards now?
