Mickky's GVP to support BJP' Alina

Ahead of the ensuing Cortalim by-poll, the BJP-led government in Goa today enhanced its strength from 25 to 27 in the 40-seat Legislative Assembly by accepting the support of Goa Vikas Party (GVP).

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters here that the ruling coalition has accepted unconditional support of GVP, which is having two legislators in the State Assembly.

The BJP led coalition now comprises of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), Goa Vikas Party and two independents.

The GVP today announced that they will support Alina Saldanha, BJP's official candidate in Cortalim by poll scheduled on June 4.

GVP supremo Fransisco Micky Pacheco said the party will not field its candidate in the constituency, where it has a strong foothold.

Parrikar said GVP had extended their support to the ruling government from the first day onwards when they submitted the letter to the Governor.

"But we were yet to formally accept the support as there was no time to discuss and understand the coalition," the chief minister said.

Responding to a question, Parrikar ruled out that GVP's entry into the coalition is in the backdrop of Cortalim bypoll.

"It was never intended that we will fight against GVP candidate in the constituency," he said.

The Cortalim by-elections which were scheduled on June 2 initially, were postponed by another two days by Election Commission of India (ECI), yesterday.

The elections were necessitated in the constituency after demise of BJP legislator Matanhy Saldanha.

The bye-poll is expected to have a straight fight between BJP-led alliance and Congress candidate, Raymond D’Sa.

The Congress yesterday announced D’Sa as its candidate in this constituency.

Hello Aggie:::

Mickky has not given up playing his favourite "Party" Game, called "MUSICAL CHAIRS".

Is Mickey slowly turning out to be another Churchill......is he the person whom nobody should trust?

What does he looking for may be a chance to be in the ministry.....

Aggie , USA

Miccky is not to be trusted. He learnt his trades from Churchill Alemao, until they fell apart.

However Mickky will not be very relevant in a coalition.

Looks like the UGDP will have to go into a deep slumber...possibly eternally.

Anacleto Viegas and Radharao Gracias are no longer trusted by Goans.THey are viewed as Puppets coming out to entertain us.They are gimmicky,Forums confirm this. They are viewed as toothless Hyenas, hunting for scraps of food or only coming out to make hay while the sun shines.
