Parrikar's "Family Raj" for daughters & housewives
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 26 March 2012 22:20 ISTChief minister Manohar Parrikar has displayed his concern for Family Raj in the budget, in his own style.
“My Government would like to focus on those families and try and make them feel safe and contended. It would be the endeavour of this Government to ensure that every family is assured of help in times of crisis,” he said in his budget speech.
The major highlight of it is the “Ladli Laxmi” scheme he has floated. A package of Rs one lakh to every girl to get married.
“I hope that the scheme discourages the practice of killing a girl child in the womb of the mother which is resulting in to distorted Sex ratio”, he said.
He has provided Rs 150 crore to implement the scheme.
Similarly, Parrikar has kept his election promise of price rise allowance of Rs 1000 per month to every housewife, whose annual income is less than Rs three lakh.
While making provision of Rs 150 crore, he plans to implement it before Chovoth.
Parrikar has also announced to freeze the cooking LGP cylinder prices for the next five years, in order to provide relief to the housewives.
As the Congress government in its union budget has announced the LPG hike, Goa’s BJP chief minister has announced this relief from 16 March; the day union budget was presented.
