Lobbying begins for CLP & GPCC posts as Subhash to quit
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 15 March 2012 22:13 ISTLobbying has begun in Congress as usual for the top posts of legislature leaders as well as the Pradesh Congress Committee president.
GPCC chief Subhash Shirodkar is expected to resign by tomorrow morning, submitting his letter to the high command.
Both – former chief minister Digambar Kamat and Shirodkar – have left for Delhi today.
However, they would be able to meet the leaders only tomorrow due to imbroglio over railway minister Dinesh Trivedi’s resignation issue that has kept the Congress on its toes.
The Congress legislature of nine members is expected to elect its leader by tomorrow afternoon, provided both Digambar and Shirodkar return to Goa.
The CLP leader would obviously be the opposition leader in the House.
The Assembly session would begin on Monday, 19 March.
It would begin with pro-tem speaker Mahadev Naik administering oath to all the 40 elected members of the House.
The House would then elect the speaker as well as the deputy speaker.
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar would present the much-awaited budget on Wednesday, 21 March.
The House would however take vote on account for three months and the whole budget would be discussed only in monsoon session in July.
Shameless felolows will still fight for this post. It is better that they elect an independent as the leader of opposition, or else the ruling side will have a cakewalk on all issues.
