Students' boycotts & marches begin
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 18 August 2011 18:15 ISTIndia Against Corruption movement spread amongst students today with thousands of students coming on streets in support of Anna Hazare.
College and higher secondary students boycotted and marched on the streets, shouting slogans against corruption.
These included students from Panaji, Mapusa, Bicholim, Sanquelim, Pernem, Ponda, Margao and Canacona.
While Panaji students were led by BJP’s student wing ABVP, students came out under the official banner of India Against Corruption in Margao and Canacona.
Though there were no banners elsewhere, almost everywhere students said they are fully supporting the movement started by Anna for the Jan Lokpal bill.
“Don’t be under the impression that we don’t know about the bill. Because we know it well, we are on the streets today to oppose the government bill and press for the Jan Lokpal bill proposed by Team Anna”, they said.
After spending four day in Tihar jail while refusing to leave the lock up if not permitted to go on fast, Anna would now continue his fast from Ramlila Maidan in the national capital from tomorrow.
The suppression tactics of the Congress government at the centre have angered every Indian, including the student community all over India.
More students from different colleges, higher secondary schools and even schools have plans to march in different cities and villages all over Goa.
It is the corruption which gives rise to unemployment and frustration among the younger generation. If the corruption is stopped--it will definitely give a better future to the younger generation....Good to see the youngsters becoming aware of what is happening around them....and how the Country is getting looted and plundered...
