20,000 expected for sunburn party
PTI, PANAJI | 13 December 2010 23:02 ISTThree-day long music festival `Sunburn Goa 2010’, to be flagged off on December 27 at Candolim beach, is expected to attract 20,000 crowd for the three days, officials said today.
“The event will pull in best of DJs from across the globe who will play electronic music for the three days on the beach for music lovers,” Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director, Percept Limited, told pti today.
He said that the event will also have allied activities like rock climbing, beach volleyball, spiritual spa, food court and lot of
merchandisers lined up during the days.
The event titled as `Tuborg Presents Sunburn Goa 2010’ has been ranked as Asia’s biggest music festival and world’s seventh largest by CNN.
Although the event is carved out for youn people, Singh said that the festival attracts music lovers of 60 to 65 years of age also walk in for the event at Candolim beach, 15 kms away from here. “It’s a music experience which allows you to do, what you want to do,” he explained.
Sunburn 2009 had hit news headlines after Bangalore-based Meha Bahuguna died allegedly due to drug overdose at the venue.
Singh refused to comment on the incident but said that it was just a day after her death that her father had clarified that his daughter had health issues.
He refused that the drugs are pushed during the event and claimed the venue is screened by Goa Police’s Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) sleuths.
The officials said that the Sunburn 2010 will bring in best DJs from the Electronic Dance Music scene like Ferry Corsten, Axwell, Brian Transeau, Richard Durand and others.
Singh said that India lack live entertainment, which prompted Percept to work on the concept of Sunburn.
“Youths were the focal point when we designed the festival. India is not accustomed in creating Intellectual properties or brands. We broke the jinx and Sunburn is a brand now,” he said adding that this will be fourth edition of sunburn in Goa.
Percept also intends to have presence of brand all round the year for his fans. “Mumbai will have Sunburn night club in second week of July while plans are on to have Sunburn bar and longue at Pune,” Singh said.
