Goa to have 3rd district of Antruj

The tiny state of Goa is likely to have a third district now.

The announcement in this regard was made by chief minister Digambar Kamat today in Ponda, while laying foundation stone of upgradation of Rajiv Kala Mandir worth Rs 19 crore.

According to Kamat, the third district would have Ponda and surrounding areas into it.

A suggestion in this regard, he said, was made by home minister Ravi Naik, the Ponda MLA.

The chief minister also informed the gathering that the work on setting up 12th taluka of Dharbandora has already started.

Inclusion of villages of Sattari taluka in the proposed of Dharbandora taluka however has been vehemently opposed by his cabinet colleague health minister Vishwajeet Rane, the Valpoi MLA.

Goa's size is only 3702 square kilometers. The whole state itself is smaller in size than neighbouring Sindhudurg, the smallest taluka of Maharashtra.

Presently, Goa is divided into two districts - South and the North, with Margao and Panaji as its district headquarters.

Yes Mr. Vishwas is very much right, just as Massimo, James D'Silva and Shekar are. I do not understand from where do these politicians get all these HONKY TONK ideas? Dear Vishwas could you please email me your personal email ID at meninogptf@rediffmail.com as I want to discuss with you more on this without wasting the space of Goa News.

Menino G. P. T. Fernandes (Valpoi/UK) , United Kingdom of Great Britain

Whole of Goa is smaller than one district of Maharashtra or Karnataka! Adding one more district will multiply the Babus and add to unnecessary burden on the Tax payer and increase the debt burden on the common man! This moves needs to be condemned by one and all! I wish the media grills the Politicians on the financial burden that will be put on the common man by the corrupt politicians for no valid reasons!

vishwas prabhudesai , loliem

One more act of foolishness! This will attract more promotions to Govt babus, more work for beaurocracy and more burdon on exchaquer. NGOs should oppose such move.

With good transport facilities and small geaographical area,Goa doesnt' require one more district.

Shekhar , Panaji

One more bad decision which will result in to wasting of tax payer's money to expand and feed the useless bureaucracy!

Already the average Goan is under debt burden of more than 50000/ rupees? Who will pay this debt?
