Goa Govt to assist Shwas for Oscars
25 November 2004 23:21 IST Following Maharashtra, Goa government has now come to assist Shwas, to promote the national award-winning Marathi movie for the Oscars.
On the eve of the 35th International Film Festival in India, which would begin from 29 November here, Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday declared financial assistance of Rs 21 lakh for Shwas.
``Shwas has a potential of winning an Oscar award and we are proud that a Marathi movie has been nominated for Oscars”, he said after inaugurating the renovated Kala Academy complex.
Goa’s prestigious theatre complex has been renovated to hold the inaugural function of the 10-day film festival.
The IFFI is also screening Shwas at the festival, in the Indian Panorama section.
Prior to the festival, the movie was also screened yesterday, to mark the Kala Academy inauguration. Goans have also lined up at the INOX multiplex to watch the award-winning film since yesterday.
Goa Entertainment Society, the local hosts, is also screening the movie on 28 November as the part of media preview of selected Indian films.
